Announce the subject
Today I will talk to you about the general introduction and seed production and traceability of organic heterogenous materials.
OHMs: why is it important to know about them?
Organic Heterogenous Material (OHM) is a relatively new legal category for heterogenous plant populations. It offers opportunities for more resilient, diverse and sustainable agricultural systems, particularly within the context of organic farming. Propagating and marketing seed of OHM comes with some specific practical and legal requirements, which will be addressed in this module.
After completing this module, you will be able to
- define what OHM is and describe its advantages for organic agriculture
- list the practical aspects of seed propagation that are specific to heterogeneous populations
- give a general overview of the OHM notification procedure
