ITAB is a dynamic and close-knit team whose values are collective intelligence, collaboration, integrity, rigor, and open innovation.

ITAB has set three main priorities for its 2022–2027 program:

Humanity faces considerable global challenges: climate change, the depletion of non-renewable resources, and the collapse of biodiversity. Our agricultural and food models must transform to become more resilient and sustainable.

Since 2013, ITAB, the qualified Agricultural and Agro-industrial Technical Institute, has had a Scientific Council (CS ITAB), whose mission is to support ITAB in its scientific and technical strategy.

ITAB was created in 1982 by organic only organizations, including Grab (Groupe de recherche en Agriculture Biologique - Organic Agriculture Research Group). Its initial purpose was to serve as both a liaison institute between regional organic farming research stations and an institute collaborating with research organizations, in particular INRAE. An association under the French law of 1901, ITAB now has 54 members (legal entities) divided into 10 colleges. Its Association Board is composed of 30 administrators.

The Institute for Organic Agriculture and Food (Institut de l’agriculture et de l’alimentation biologiques - ITAB) is an applied research organization that aims to produce and disseminate knowledge to improve organic production and processing.
